Mac Danzig, the vegan MMA/UFC fighter, has recently changed his diet to a high carb, low fat, raw vegan, 80/10/10 fruitarian style diet which consist of all raw fruits and vegetables with very little overt fats like nuts, seeds, avocados, and coconuts. Mac Danzig has been a vegan and a strong animal rights activist since 2004 and feels like the vegan diet has really helped him improve with his professional fights. Mac Danzig was also been featured in the documentary called “Forks Over Knives” which demonstrates how and why a whole food, plant based diet is the most optimal diet for people.
Even though Mac agrees that his high carb, low fat, cooked vegan diet was a healthy diet, he feels that 80/10/10 has evolved diet. 80/10/10 is the diet Mac has always been looking for. Before he was on an 80/10/10 diet, or even a vegan diet, he would have to restrict his calories before fights to cut weight. Now he feels he can eat UNLIMITED amounts of calories coming from fruits and vegetables and not have to worry about gaining excess weight. Some of durianrider’s videos actually made him realize that it wasn’t the carbohydrates that made people fat but the fat they were eating WITH the carbohydrates that made people fat. This is why so many people rely on stimulants like coffee and cacao because they don’t get enough energy by eating enough carbohydrates. This has helped Mac Danzig realize that fruit is the ultimate food!
